The Antinori family has been involved in the production of wine for over six centuries, ever since, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori entered as a member, the “Arte Fiorentina”, the Winemakers’ Guild of the city of Florence. During this entire long period, thorough twenty six generations, the family has always directly managed this work with courageous and, at times, innovative decisions, but always maintaining, unaltered, a fundamental respect for tradition and for the territory in which they have operated.

Today we will visit the outstanding estate of Badia of Passignano, and Antinori Chianti Classico.

The Badia di Passignano (The Abbey of Passignano), located in the Chianti Classico region, is an ancient monastery dating back to 395, when it was established by the archbishop of Florence.
Even today it is still inhabited by monks of the Vallombrosian Order, who remain the guardians of their cultural and historical treasures. At Badia you will visit to the vineyards with an introduction to winegrowing and production; the historical Abbey cellars, followed by lunch or dinner at Osteria di Passignano restaurant with a menu accompanied by the classic Antinori signature wines: Cervaro della Sala, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Badia a Passignano, Tignanello, Brunello di Montalcino and Barolo Bussia, preceded by extra-virgin olive oil tasting.

The tour At Antinori Chianti Classico moves from the outside to the inside of the winery, permitting to see the great spiral staircase, the vineyard covering the winery roof and the vinification and aging areas. At the end of the tour a tasting of some of our typical labels from the Tuscany and Umbria Estates: Conte della Vipera Umbria I.G.T (Castello della Sala estate), Vino Nobile di Montepulciano D.O.C.G. (La Braccesca estate) and Villa Antinori Chianti Classico D.O.C.G. Riserva (Antinori Chianti Classico winery).

At the end, continue to Montalcino, where you will stay for 3 nights.

Today enjoy your resort or explore the magnificent Val d’Orcia.

This area of Tuscany boasts of endless rolling hills covered with grain or sunflowers, a rich green valley which encompasses the Orcia river, from which the zone derives its name, and don’t forget the vineyards for the renowned wines of Brunello and the newcomer on the market, the Val d’Orcia DOC. It is no wonder that this territory, which stretches along the provinces of Siena and Grosseto, is protected as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Time seems to slow down for picturesque towns like Pienza, a real jewel known as the "Ideal City" and the beautiful Palazzo Piccolomini. Or the little town of Castiglion d'Orcia with its fortress. At the furtherest southern most point there is the hilltop town of Radicofani with its imposing castle tower or go west, towards the walled medieval city of Montalcino and the vineyards of Brunello. A must-see is the beautiful and suggestive Romanesque Abbey of Sant' Antimo, one of the best examples of medieval monastic architecture.

After a day visiting museums, ancient abbeys and castles, you can relax yourself in one of the many thermal baths of the region, such as the ones in Bagno Vignoni or in Bagni di San Filippo.

This region is very rich in high quality local products such as the "pecorino" cheese of Pienza (a typical cheese made with sheep's milk), the genuine olive oil, the gorgeous wine resulting from a long and ancient tradition, saffron, mushrooms, chestnuts, truffles, game and a lot of other specialties.

Maremma is a large area in southern Tuscany. It is a perfect microcosm that stretches between the provinces of Livorno and Grosseto. Maremma is unique because of the variety of its territory: blue sea, long beaches, black rock, hills covered with woods, marshes and flat lands, green hills and natural thermal baths.
It's a timeless region with ancient roots. Here the Etruscans and then the Romans flourished for centuries leaving behind important traces in the Etruscan cities of Populonia and Roselle and many archeological finds around the region. Then the Aldobrandeschi clan arrived and ruled in Maremma during the dark era of the Middle Ages leaving behind high towers, castles and walled towns such as Santa Fiora and Sovana.

Maremma is also land of great wines.

Today we will drive in the direction of Southern Tuscany Coast and we will have an en route stop in the area of Montecucco Area, a your wine district,  An interesting blend of the Maremma hills, Etruscan ruins and the heights of Mount Amiata blend together in one landscape.

This slice of Tuscany, in the Maremma, called Montecucco is an area boasting of world class vineyards and also a wide range of flavors in the form of olive oil, honey, truffles, mushrooms, saffron as well as regional recipes and even rare breeds like that of the Amiata donkey (Miccio Amiatino), best suited for the rigorous life of mining in the mountains.
